Stay Away From The Water (and This Other Thing)

Newsletter

Hey Friend!

I’m in Costa Rica for a water purification conference (aka company vacation).

Ever since touching down in this country, I’ve been amazed by the flora & fauna.

It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before...

The air clings to you from the moment you step off the plane.

In the distance, you see mountains covered with miles of jungle.

The deep blue ocean lies beyond the trees, extending into the horizon until it becomes one with the sun.

Not only is the landscape awe-inspiring but it’s also filled with life.

Iguanas bask in the sunlight.

Monkeys howl at you from the cover of the trees.

Octopi lurk in the coral reef.

This place is a living coastal jungle.

But even in paradise tragedy can strike…

My friend got very sick a few days into the trip.

We were trying to figure out why he wasn’t feeling good.

Our first idea was the food.

Or maybe it was traveling.

But then he told me his fatal error.

“I was so thirsty last night, I chugged 3 bottles of tap water from the sink faucet.”

…😳

For those who haven't traveled to other countries before, it’s recommended that you don’t drink from the tap.

It can lead to food poisoning, upset stomach, and even much worse things.

Let’s just say he spent a lot of time with the toilet.

Don’t worry, he’s recovering just fine!

But I realized this…

We often poison ourselves without realizing it.

Just like drinking tainted water, we feed ourselves negative thoughts that are self-sabotaging.

We tell ourselves things like:

  • “I won’t ever be happy because of…X”
  • “I’m not capable of achieving my dreams because of…Y”
  • “I will never make meaningful friendships because of…Z”

These thought patterns get programmed into our minds and we only start to see the world's negative aspects.

That life should terrify you.

So, instead, try to find a positive aspect to every situation.

Even if it’s the smallest thing you can think of.

Find something.

It may take some time but will give you an entirely different outlook on life.

Let me leave you with this…

Positive thoughts are like purified water

They may be scarce at times in our lives

but taking the time to find them will lead to a happier, healthier life :)

Pura Vida mi amigos,

Have a great week,
