The Defining Factor of an Entrepreneur

Business

Hey friend,

When I was young

Around 8-9 years old

My mom labeled me with a title that stuck with me.

An “Entrepreneur.”

The word is muddled now, but I still hold it in great regard.

When most people think of an entrepreneur, they think of a slimy guy who would do anything to make a quick buck or the influencers on Instagram showing off their 8th Lambo.

But let me fix your idea of what an entrepreneur is…

The textbook definition is:

“A person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.”

Very true.

But somewhat boring…

Here's one I like better:

An entrepreneur is a professional problem solver.

They’re innovators.

They’re creators.

They’re doers.

But most of all… they’re curious about the world.

Every entrepreneur is different, but these defining factors are what I aim to embody throughout my journey.

And to be honest...

Most days, I still have no idea what I’m doing.

But I show up daily and learn as much as possible.

In my eyes, that is a recipe for success.

...Yet, only time will tell.

(Big updates coming soon for my first start-up - stay tuned!)

🏝️ Travel

I’m in Mexico for a family vacation this week! My Spanish still needs some work, but I’ve been getting better. Next time I come back, I hope to be close to fluent. Reach out to me if you want to learn together! Here’s my favorite picture I've taken so far :)

A biography of the founder of The Dell Computer Company. Before reading this book, I didn’t know much about Michael Dell. Yet, within 100 pages, he has become one of my favorite entrepreneurs. He talks about operating a business ethically and with a high moral standard. His #1 trait that led to his success? Curiosity.
