Hey friends,
I finished writing this yesterday, but forgot to send it out!
So here's the first edition of The Saturday Framework (it doesn't sound as catchy).
When I was in 1st grade I told my mom I had a school project…
The night before it was due.
So we rushed to Hobby Lobby to buy supplies. Clay, figurines, baking soda, vinegar, paint, and more glue than you could imagine.
We drove home and got to work. After 3 hours of the most intense building I’ve ever done, we had a finished product of a mini volcano.
Mt. Ferony was painted dark grey with streaks of red and black down the sides. Trees and bushes lined the green cardboard landscape. Dinosaurs roamed the land below, waiting for their destruction.
A true masterpiece.
The next day…
I strutted through the halls of Cypress Elementary, followed by my parents, who helped me carry the huge volcano structure. Eyes followed me throughout the hall, looking enviously at my creation...even the 5th graders were impressed.
We entered my first-grade teacher’s classroom, Mrs. Ritizima. I set up my volcano in the middle of the room, loaded it with baking soda, and prepared for the big moment.
As the class quieted down I poured the vinegar into the mouth of the volcano and it exploded with a chemical reaction. The class erupted with “ooo’s” and “ahh’s.”
It was beautiful.
After the spectacular event, my parents talked to my teacher.
They told her that I hadn’t told them of the school project until the night before and how they rushed to make it. They politely asked for her to send out more information on future projects, so they could be prepared.
She looked at them in confusion and replied “We didn’t have a school project… Rocky just asked if he could bring something in to show the class.”
Their jaw dropped as they eyed me in front of my glorious volcano with a huge smile on my face...I still haven’t heard the end of it.
But, sometimes you just have to take a chance following your curiosity.
Even if it’s not for your job...
Don’t get stuck inside the lines. Make your own path.
Thanks for reading,
Stay curious my friends!
