Hey friends,
Our Uber is 1 minute away…
We head outside and spot the car.
“Hi, for Rocky?” I ask.
The driver confirms it’s for us.
We begin small talk: “How has your day been?” blah, blah, blah….
Then, the dreaded question comes -
I ask, “So, how long have you been Ubering?”
The driver tells us he does it on and off.
“Very cool,” we exclaim. Then, sit in silence for the remainder of the ride.
Sound familiar?
🎤 DJ Rain
Let’s look at what really happened, by asking a few more questions.
(True story)
I learned that this man:
- Was in the navy and traveled all over the world
- Has a company in Austin, assisting the MR
- Is a musician - DJ Rain
Wow, this guy has a story. But the thing is, we all do.
🧐 Genuine Interest
This isn’t only about Uber drivers - it’s about every aspect of our lives.
Are you truly interested in others and their story?
We earn countless benefits when we show genuine interest in others - such as:
- Loyalty to you and your perspective
- Long-lasting relationships
- Learning (everyone knows something you don’t)
You can make more friends in 2 months by becoming genuinely interested in other people, than you can get in 2 years by trying to get people interested in you. - Dale Carnegie
Everyone is the main character in their lives.
For this reason, people become interested in others, that are interested in them.
(You gotta give it to get it).
This is a tactic, but your heart needs to be in the right place. Not because you want influence over others, but because you truly care. Once you have love for others, then you have the ability to create long-lasting positive influence.
(And I assume everyone wants to be influential in some sort of way).
You don’t have to do this every time, but understand the opportunity you have in situations like this.

🔊 Podcast of the Week:
This podcast was recommended to me by 2 of my friends. It is the perfect combo between learning and comedy. I lol'd multiple times during this podcast, and still walked away with ideas to benefit my health.
I’m hoping to meet DJ Rain again, so please tell me if you know him!
Have a great week,
